Join Israeli educator, Sharona Grinsteiner, on an imaginary journey through several award-winning picture books. Using nationally-acclaimed books such as Bagels for Benny, It Could Always Be Worse and Joseph Had a Little Overcoat, children will literally "jump" into these stories through creative dramatics, zany art projects and even some cooking. Did someone say bagels?! This camp will keep kids jumping with special guest artists dropping by for storytelling and music.A Mazel Tot sponsored program. Mentor: Sharona Grinsteiner.

Our Place In Space: Art and Science

Grade 3
through Grade 6

Explore earth’s planetary neighborhood through art. Using art, mixed-media artist Aiello mixes creativity with science to teach kids about their place in space. The camp will combine scientific investigation about the galaxies with various cultural traditions, using a variety of 2D and 3D art projects in pastel, sculpture, acrylic painting and storytelling. Artist-in-Residence: Monica Petty Aiello.

Offered in cooperation with Four Mile Historic Park. Children will experience a simpler way of life as they learn and play as Colorado pioneer children did in the late 1800s at the 12-acre historic park and Denver’s oldest standing house. Campers will enjoy hands-on experiences as they learn about several different groups of immigrants and their unique experiences during Westward Expansion. The many customs, traditions and crafts of Jewish, African American, Hispanic, and Chinese pioneers will bring history to life for your child. This culturally rich program will be held at Four Mile Historic Park. Register online at www.fourmilepark.org Four Mile Historic Park is located at 715 S. Forest Street, Denver, Colorado 80246. You must submit a registration form, emergency medical form and a copy of child’s Certificate of Immunization. Please use one form per child. No phone registrations accepted.

Jewish and American-Indian ArtVentures: Connecting Across Cultures

Grade 3
through Grade 6

As spiritual and ancient peoples, discover what Jews and American-Indians share. Through the lens of art, find out how traditions of Jewish and American Indian cultures are similar and different. Campers will explore Jewish and American-Indian art at the Mizel Museum and Denver Art Museum, and create their own artventures using clay, pastels, paint, tin and leather. Artist-in-Residence: Lia Lynn Rosen.

The Adventures of Rabbi Harvey: Creative Dramatics for the Wacky and Wise

Hold on to yer hats folks!  Kids will learn scriptwriting, improvisational techniques and elements of set-design for a live performance based on the quirky Rabbi Harvey of Elk Spring, Colorado and explore universal values using Jewish and American folklore in the backdrop of the western frontier of the 1870's. Campers will also “meet” the author of Rabbi Harvey books via web-conferencing. Artist-in-Residence: Jane Page.

Campers will discover visual symbols of peace in Middle-Eastern art and create a “peace mural” to be displayed at "Open House," a unique community based co-existence center for Jews, Christians and Muslims in Israel. Campers will learn composition, design and drawing with a focus on imagination, to create expressive, collectable art. Artist-in-Residence: Ivy Delon.


Destination Freedom Radio Days

Grade 4
through Grade 6


July 19 - July 23

Betts will engage children in a fun, interactive, intergenerational experience that brings the joy of live radio drama to life. Children will learn about the live radio format, scriptwriting, character voices, how to use microphones and recorders, and how to create sound effects. Campers will produce their own radio play and perform for the audience in a live radio broadcast. Artist-in-Residence: donnie betts.

Down to Earth Clay Creations

Grade 1
through Grade 3


July 26 - July 30



9:00 am – 3:30 pm | $200
What does clay have to do with the creation stories of Jews and other peoples?  Campers will get down (and dirty) working with clay to create animals, seas, plants and humans to create “vessels” that will represent their personal universes. Children will learn how to prepare clay, and how to use various techniques like coiling, pinch-pots and texture.  Artist-in-Residence: Lia Lynn Rosen.

Me and My Shadow: Shadow Puppets

Grades 3
through 6


August 2 - August 6

9:00 am – 3:30 pm | $200
Campers will design, create, and decorate their own shadow puppet stages writing simple stories inspired by imagination. Each child will share their individual stories in a performance for families and friends. Acting in silhouette, campers will experiment with larger puppets and hand shadows on a large screen. At the end of the journey through light and shadow, each child will share their “Me and My Shadow” story on a take home stage. Artist-in-Residence: Betsy Tobin.



The Musical Tent

Grade 1 through Grade 3

August 9 - August 13



9:00 am – 3:30 pm | $200
Children will make drums, flutes and string instruments from simple materials and introduced to the most basic elements and concepts of music making. Kids will learn to play and sing traditional ensemble songs from Middle East, Africa and South America. Camp ends with a community performance of original work written and performed by each camper. With short presentations from special guests, Music making brings to campers like listening, dancing, and musical storytelling. Artist-in-Residence: Sheldon Sands.


Jewish Journeys Around the World: On The Road Again

August 16 - August 30

A fun-filled journey through the diversity of the Jewish people is explored as children learn about the customs and cultures of Jews in far away places such as Uzbekistan, Ethiopia, Yemen, Oroocco, Russia and South America. Mentor: Sharona Grinsteiner.
